Waka in Jazz is a cultural and musical immersion into ancient Japanese poems arranged with Jazz standard tunes. The poemes featured in Waka in Jazz have been selected from the Hykunin Issu (A hundred poems, A hundred poets) collection. Each poem consists of 5 phrases, with an arrangement of 5 – 7 – 5 – 7 – 7 syllables each.
